BURLINGTON, MA - The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Burlington Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Feb. 4

8:15 a.m. - Caller reports someone attempted to purchase a $900 phone under her Verizon Contract at Best Buy, 84 Middlesex Turnpike. Caller lives in CT and unable to drive to Burlington. See officer’s report.

9:06 a.m. - Caller reports an odor of gas in his apartment at 13 Hallmark Gardens. Fire Department notified.

9:49 a.m. - Resident reports his wife has a difficult time crossing over to the park at 6:30 .m. every morning in the area of Francis Wyman Road at 39 Buckman Drive and requests extra enforcement.

10 a.m. - Caller requests a mirror to assist with exiting her driveway on the corner on Lexington Street. Safety officer advised residents that mirrors are not installed by the town, but will look into whether it meets the requirements of a blind driveway sign.

10:26 a.m. - Caller reports receiving an email requesting $28,000 stating urgent transfer. Officer reports it appears to be a computer/business scam from overseas. Caller reports that no money has been exchanged. This company has utilized all safeguards to secure it’s emails and assets at this time.

10:26 a.m. - Caller reports a fire on the property of Best Buy. Burlington Fire Department notified. Fire put itself out. Power shut off to pole. Units cleared

2:21 p.m. - Report of cars passing the school bus in the area of 235 Cambridge St.

2:26 p.m. - Male party walked into the police station to report an erratic operator earlier in the day. No damage occurred to his mv. Police have possible plate of that driver and attempting to make contact with other involved party.

4:09 p.m. - Report of low-hanging wires in the area of 38 Terrace Hall Ave. No low-hanging wires found.

4:48 p.m. - Report of a group of children running around causing a disturbance. Officers found children were were playing in a playground, no suspicious activity.

4:52 p.m. - Person walked into lobby to report she was given a fraudulent check for $2559.50.

8:28 p.m. - Caller reports his 16-year-old daughter ran away and he believes she is in Burlington Officers spoke with resident, who stated both their son and the 16-year-old female were not inside and they were unaware of the female.
