Help Needed: Volunteers Sought for Tax Season
Volunteers needed for Burlington Council on Aging AARP Tax Prep assistance

The AARP Foundation, in partnership with the Council on Aging, provides free income tax preparation assistance to seniors and low-to-moderate income taxpayers. We are looking for additional volunteers for our Burlington site for the 2025 tax season. Volunteers would work during the week from February 17 to April 15, 2026.
Although prior tax preparation experience is helpful, it is not required. Patience, persistence and the resourcefulness to search out answers to tax questions are the qualities we look for. Volunteers must be comfortable using a computer, and the internet. The IRS provides training and professional tax preparation software. Training requires about 40 hours spread over several months into early January. Most of the training is online and is self-directed, allowing volunteers to progress at their own pace. Veteran volunteers are available for mentoring. Upon completion of the training, volunteers must pass the Tax Certification (open book) Exam online.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity you can apply online at AARP.org or email the Burlington Tax-Aide Coordinator John at jpmaine125@gmail.com
