Keep Up With Burlington Public Library Upcoming Events

There are events ranging from teen club, book buddies mentoring, dads and donuts, and mother-daughter book club. Join in on the fun.

Look Who’s Reading…

Burlington Public Library is featuring town notables in “Look Who’s Reading…” a project to promote reading and foster ties with our community. We’ll feature a series of photos of town notables with their favorite or current read. Curious? Visit the library’s Facebook or stop by the library to find out who is reading what in Burlington!

Tax Forms are arriving!

State tax forms: The library has both Massachusetts Resident and Nonresident Income Tax booklets. Federal tax forms: So far, the library have received the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms and the 1040A and 1040EZ Instruction booklets. We have not yet received the 1040 Instruction booklets for the 2016 tax year. The IRS will ship these booklets to us, but they have not told us when we can expect them. Call the Reference Desk at 781-270-1691, and we will tell you if they have arrived.

If you need forms other than the ones listed above, there are several ways to obtain then. Forms can be downloaded and printed from the IRS website at https://www.irs/forms-pubs. If you don't have a computer and printer at home, you can come to the library and we will help you. Or, call the IRS at 800-829-3676 and they will mail forms to you. It is also possible to order forms online at https://www.irs.gov/uac/Forms-and-Publications-by-U-S-Mailand the IRS will mail the forms to you.

Teen Club - Thursday, January 26, 4-4:45 pm Make sock snowmen with Jenna.

Teen Lounge - Fridays, January 27 and Feb. 2, from 2:30-4:30 pm Join Nicole for games, crafts, snacks, you name it.

Dads and Donuts - Saturday, January 27, 11-12 am Join Mary for a new storytime especially for kids in grades K -2 with a dad or male caregiver. (Moms may come if dads are unable.) Enjoy stories, songs, crafts, and, of course, donuts.

Tween/Teen Event: Superheroes - Saturday, January, 27, 3-4 pm For fans of superheroes, comic book, television, or movie—both Marvel and DC, Nicole will lead crafts and activities. Grade 3 and up

Chinese New Year Celebration - Monday, January 30, 11 am Join Mary for Chinese New Year stories, craft, and parade! Age 3and up

Teen Event: Scribbles - Monday, January 30, 7-8 pm Turn your imagination loose on writing/artwork prompts!

Book Buddies Book Mentoring Program - Wednesday, February 1, 7 pm For children preschool- Grade 2

Bring in your child to be read to by a teen buddy.

Mother-Daughter Book Club - Thursday, February 2, 6-7 pm Amanda will lead a book chat and craft. This month: “Matilda,” by Roald Dahl

Featured Database – Morningstar Investment Research Center – January 2017

What better time to pay attention to your money? Why not use what the pros use? Burlington Public Library offers patrons free access to Morningstar Investment Research Center. Morningstar is a leading provider of independent investment research in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Morningstar furnishes investment data for nearly 540,000 investment vehicles such as stocks, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds. Designed specifically for libraries, it provides analysis, stock charts, and portfolio-building tools. All you need is an Internet connection and a Burlington Public Library card. Library Display

Because it’s nice to always have a little extra money, Burlington Public Library has created a display featuring books on earning extra income. Showcased titles include “Ultimate Homebased Business Handbook” which includes a chapter with lots of business ideas, “eBay business All-in-One for Dummies,” “Making Money from Home: How to Run a Successful Home-based Business,” and “202 Things You Can Buy and Sell for Big Profits.” Come and get some ideas!
