A crowd of local residents of all faiths gathered on the Burlington Town Commons this past Saturday for an Interfaith Service in memory of those lost in the Boston Marathon bombings and to support their families and those injured.
The gathering was led by Rev. Rod MacDonald of the Presbyterian Church of Burlington, Rabbi Susan Abramson of Temple Shalom Emeth, Rev. Angela Wells of the United Church of Christ Congregational and Imam Muhammed Sayanvala of the Islamic Center of Burlington.
The purpose of the gathering was to offer hope and community support to those affected by the attacks and to reaffirm that goodness will always triumph over evil.

"People have gathered for religious services to do what brings us all together," Rev. MacDonald said. "We gather to say that we choose life."
MacDonald then lit a candle.

"We're lighting a candle to signify turning from the darkness to the light together," he told the crowd.
Rev. Wells said that good people will always outnumber evil people.
"We gather here to remember that the number of evil people in the world will always be miniscule to the number of good people" she said.
She also said that gathering together to honor those who were killed or injured helps everyone heal.
"If one member suffers, all suffer together," she said. "But if one member is honored than all rejoice."
Following the service members of the crowd were invited to write cards for those injured, many of whom are still in the hospital. They also collected donations for The One Fund Boston.
