
Today is Friday, August 23. Here are five things to know:
1) Slight chance of afternoon showers
Looks like a mostly clear day with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees. Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 55.
2) Disability access
The Burlington Disability Access Commission is meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Human Services Building. The new business is "scheduling differently abled awareness talk with the elementary schools."
3) Teen summer reading
The Burlington Public Library is hosting a Teen Summer Reading Wrap-Up at 3 p.m. today. The Summer Reading 2013 winners will be announced. Enjoy a pudding and candy parfait and celebrate the end of Summer.
4) Temple Open House
Temple Shalom Emeth is holding a "Shark Shabbat Open House" from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. There will be a pizza and salad dinner with watermelon and a desert bar. There will also be games and art projects for the kids. Also watch out for the shark! Click here for more information.
