The closures are part of state testing for new wrong way vehicle detection systems.
BURLINGTON, MA — Motorists along part of I-95 may run into a series of highway lane and ramp closures in Burlington continuing this week, the state Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced last Thursday.
The closures will take place on both northbound and southbound sides of I-95 at exit 50B at Middlesex Turnpike.
Closures were due to start on Sunday night to last through Friday morning of this week. Closures will run nightly from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.

These disruptions come as the state tests new wrong way vehicle detection systems for its highways. The program is a $2.6 million pilot, adding new systems at 16 ramp locations throughout Massachusetts, as noted by MassDOT last week.
Similar lane and ramp closures are taking place in Bernardston, Danvers, Plymouth and Webster over the coming days.

The state is looking to complete its pilot project in the spring of next year.
Officials on Thursday said drivers navigating affected areas during upcoming lane and ramp closures should expect some delays. Drivers should reduce speed and use caution in these areas.
Planned work is weather dependent and subject to change.
