Police: Jewelry Store Robbery; Tires Slashed; Handicapped Parking Tickets Doled Out at the Mall

BURLINGTON, MA - Excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Tuesday, Dec. 8

At 4:28 p.m., motor vehicle stop on Cambridge Street. Citations issued for no left turn sign violation, and equipment violation for two broken tail lights.

At 5:43 p.m., credit card misuse. San Gabriel, Calif. Police Department reported that a resident of their city had her identity compromised. The victim’s information was used to open a West Elm credit account and purchases made through the Burlington store. Under investigation.

At 10:54 p.m., stolen traveler’s check reported at Extended Stay America. Reports of stolen traveler’s checks. Elderly female did not wish to speak with officer, or provide any information regarding what was taken and when. The general manager from the hotel is aware of the situation and will try to handle it.

Wednesday, Dec. 9

At 10:07 a.m., malicious damage on Harriett Avenue. Caller reported all the tires on his vehicle parked in his driveway were slashed overnight. Two tires were flattened.

At 2:44 p.m., shoplifting at Microsoft Store in Burlington Mall. Paul A. Russo, 55, of Revere, arrested for larceny over $250.

At 4:22 p.m. parking enforcement. Four parking tickets issued for handicapped parking violations.

At 4:49 p.m., past theft reported at Wegmans. Reporting party stated that a male passed a bad check on Sept. 27. Michael Ortiz, 32, of Medford, to be summonsed for larceny by check under $250.

At 7:26 p.m., theft in progress at Zales Jewelers. Zales employee reported a male took a pair of diamond earrings from the store. Suspect fled the store with two pairs of diamond earrings that he was being shown.

At 8:22 p.m., walk-in reported identity theft. Man reported his TD Bank account was compromised on Dec. 8 several times for the amount of $782.00. These transactions took place in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE.
