Police Logs: Dog Left in Hot Car, Report of Man Pointing Umbrella at Cars Like Firearm

Burlington Police Department logs for April 26 to 27.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 26

  • At 3:09 a.m. a Hampden Avenue caller reported his vehicle was keyed at work the day before and again this evening. Incident happened in Billerica so caller to contact Billerica police.
  • At 11:25 a.m. a South Bedford Street caller reported a mulch fire in front of a building. Burlington Fire Department put out a small fire.
  • At 1:46 p.m. a High School student reported her iPad 2 was stolen.
  • At 4:15 p.m. a caller on Middlesex Turnpike reported an elderly male was pointing a black umbrella at traffic as if it were a firearm. Described as a white male, bald with glasses and a backpack. Police unable to locate anyone fitting the description. 
  • At 4:55 p.m. police arrested a Burlington man on a warrant from another agency.

April 27

  • At 12:25 p.m. a Stonebrook Farms caller reported vandalism to a door.
  • At 4:34 p.m. a caller at the Burlington Mall reported that a dog was left unattended in a vehicle and was panting profusely. Police gained access to the vehicle and the dog was in distress and needed assistance. Police spoke to the owner who said she was only running in for a short time. Police advised her of dangers of leaving a dog in a hot car.
  • At 5:28 p.m. Claire's Accessories reported detaining a female shoplifter without identification. Approximately $50 in merchandise taken.
  • At 8:53 p.m. a Visco Road caller reported receiving harassing phone calls by her ex-boyfriend. Police spoke to the man and advised him to stop calling his ex-girlfriend.
