Police Logs: Man Arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Mailbox Put Through Car Windshield

Burlington Police Department logs for April 14 to 15.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 14

  • At 12:25 a.m. a Cook Road caller reported kids threw a beer bottle at his car and broke a tail light.
  • At 12:34 a.m. an Erin Lane caller reported a neighbor had a party with underage drinking. Six underage participants transported to the station and each was picked up by a parent/guardian. Parents notified of the situation.
  • At 7:16 p.m. a Nelson Road caller reported a work truck stolen from driveway. A 2001 red Ford van was stolen sometime between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. License plate H52899.
  • At 12:37 p.m. a Cambridge Street caller reported someone broke into her motor vehicle.
  • At 1:53 p.m. Best Buy reported that a Hispanic female who stole a laptop computer on April 12 valued at $369.99 has been identified at the Nashua, NH store. Police to summons.
  • At 3:12 p.m. a Daniel Drive caller reported that sometime overnight someone went through two unlocked vehicle in her driveway. She said nothing was stolen but wanted incident logged and requested extra patrol checks in the evening hours.
  • At 5:55 p.m. a Best Buy loss prevention officer reported the past theft of an Intel hard drive valued at $200. Female suspect seen leaving in a black Ford sedan. At 6:21 p.m. while police were on scene Best Buy employees also noticed an iPod dock was also missing.

April 15

  • At 5:39 a.m. a Hilltop Drive caller reported a mailbox, not their own, was smashed into their vehicle's windshield sometime the night before. Police log states mailbox was from a Frothingham Road residence that was knocked down the night before.
  • At 8:19 a.m. a Locust Street caller reported her Louis Vuitton handbags, valued at $7,000, were stolen from her home sometime since last December.
  • At 10:30 a.m. police arrested Brendan Shells, 26, of 9 Dennis Drive, Burlington, on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of large capacity firearm (2 counts) and possessing a firearm without ID card (subsequent offense). Arrest made after father reported his son had a gun and was out of control. The father did call back after first report to say son left the residence without the firearm.
  • At 8:33 p.m. a Hallmark Gardens caller reported receiving harassing phone calls. Police advised him to contact service provider and block all private numbers calling him.
  • At 8:35 p.m. police arrested Amanda Cher Costa, 21, of 546 Rogers St., Lowell, on a charge of larceny over $250. Police also arrested Sylvia Miller, 48, of 546 Rogers St., Lowell, on a charge of larceny over $250. Arrests made after Sears loss prevention reported two female shoplifters.
