Police Logs: Man Arrested for Shoplifting, Turkey in Staples Store

Burlington Police Department logs for May 31 to June 1.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

May 31-

  • At 6:24 a.m. Woburn Police reported a male, possibly drunk, walking down Cambridge Street carrying a bottle. Police transported the male to his brother's residence.
  • At 6:33 a.m. a Lexington Street caller reported turtles attempting to cross the street. The turtles were gone when police arrived.
  • At 12:07 p.m. a caller on Cambridge Street at Skilton Lane reported another driver threw a glass bottle at a small white van in the area and then chased the vehicle down Skilton. Police checked area but vehcles were gone. Going to follow up with license plate information.
  • At 1:39 p.m. a caller reported a turkey was inside the Staples store. Animal Control responded and the bird was removed.
  • At 2:02 p.m. a caller reported that on May 30 someone attempted to draw money from her bank account and move it into another. Police provided her an identity theft package.
  • AT 5:39 p.m. a caller from Lahey Clinic reported an intoxicated male causing a disturbance in the emergency room.
  • At 8:14 p.m. police arrested Somaly Yet, 30, of 550 Walnut Street, Lynn, on a charge of larceny over $250. Arrest made after a shoplifter was reported Lord & Taylor.

June 1-

  • At 1:51 a.m. police issued a summons to a Burlington man on a charge of leaving the scene of property damage. Summons issued after a Wildwood Street caller reported witnessing a hit and run accident across the street.
  • At 11:04 a.m. a manager at the Dunkin Donuts on Cambridge Street reported a theft of a wallet took place between employees.
  • At 5:15 p.m. police assisted the Mass State Police search for a motorcycle operator who was on the run, had tipped his bike, and was now on foot in the area of Route 128 and Route 3. Suspect was found and transported to Lahey Clinic for injuries.
