Police Logs: Multiple Shoplifting Reports, Baby Breaks Car Windshield with Bottle
Burlington Police Department logs for May 11 to 12.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
May 11
- At 1:44 a.m. a Mill Street caller reported he got chased by a loose dog. Dog got away from the homeowner. Dog was a puppy and was friendly.
- At 11:55 a.m. a worker at Wayside reported his partner left with a compressor after the two had an argument. Partner took compressor to his Groveland home in the back of his truck. Caller will go to the home with the Groveland police to attempt to resolve the difference. Police told caller the owner of the restaurant will need to file a complaint if this is not resolved.
- At 12:53 p.m. a Sears loss prevention reported detaining a female shoplifter. Sears to summons on the alleged attempted theft of $80 of merchandise.
- At 5:02 p.m. a Kohl's caller reported a female shoplifter in custody without identification. Female eventually provided I.D. $86 worth of perfume recovered.
- At 6:19 p.m. a caller at the Burlington Mall reported someone from a passing vehicle threw a baby bottle out the window at her car. A child in a parked car through his baby bottle out the window and cracked the windshield of another vehicle. Owners exchanged paperwork.
- At 7:22 p.m. a manager from Claire's Accessories reported detaining shoplifters. $40 of merchandise recovered from two female juveniles. Same released to their parents.
- At 9:47 p.m. a taxi driver at Beacon Village Apartments reported he dropped off a male party in his 20s and entered the building without paying. Taxi driver did not wish to leave his information and stated he would take the loss.

- At 12:42 a.m. police arrested a Burlington man on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor. Arrest made after a caller reported a vehicle hit a telephone pole.
- At 3:28 p.m. a Pine Ridge Road caller reported an unknown vehicle struck and damaged her mailbox and fled the scene.
- At 9:27 a.m. a Hilltop Drive caller reported her vehicle was entered sometime since 9 p.m. the night before. Nothing appeared to be taken but the glove-box and center console were open. Caller said she thought it was locked but there were no signs of forced entry.
