Police Logs: Multiple Shoplifting Reports with Arrests, $8,500 in Jewelry Stolen

Burlington Police Department logs for April 12 to 13.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 12

  • At 8:09 a.m. a caller reported a suspicious male stealing money from the fountain in front of the Rainforest Cafe in the Burlington. Male detained and admitted to the incident and was trespassed from the mall.
  • At 3:25 p.m. a caller from Burlington High School reported his laptop had been stolen.
  • At 4:31 p.m. a man came to the station to report that someone dropped off his tax documents at his Lexington residence. He was given an ID Theft packet and advised to call Lexington Police.
  • At 6:04 p.m. a caller at Guard Up! reported finding a single bullet on the ground. It appeared to have been outside for quite some time. Was a single 9mm round. Police to dispose.
  • At 6:54 p.m. a Hollister loss prevention officer reported an employee stole about $300 in merchandise. Same to be summonsed by the store.

  • At 3 a.m. Woburn Police reported receiving a call of a possible altercation at Kimball Towers. At 3:47 p.m. Woburn Police further reported the incident took place on the Burlington Side of Kimball Ct. and there were injured parties who were transported to Lahey Clinic.
  • At 9:37 p.m. a Shady Lane Drive caller reported he is missing jewelry and it could be stolen. According to log $8,500 diamond earrings stolen.
  • At 10:24 a.m. a caller from Burlington High reported their iPad 2 was stolen sometime on April 9.
  • At 11:46 a.m. a Sears loss prevention officer reported detaining a male shoplifter who attempted to steal $49.99 in merchandise. Store to summons.
  • At 12:48 p.m. a caller at the Burlington Mall reported their vehicle was struck while it was parked and the side view mirror was knocked off. No note left by the other driver.
  • At 3:19 p.m. Macy's loss prevention reported detaining a female shoplifter for attempting to steal $175 in merchandise. Store to summons.
  • At 4:04 p.m. a manager at Solstice reported a past shoplifter who stole a pair of RayBan sunglasses valued at $160 at 2:51 p.m. that day. Suspect described as young white male wearing tan cargo shorts, a black hoodie and a black ball cap.
  • At 4:40 p.m. a caller reported someone created a fake Facebook page with his information and picture. Caller said he needed police report to get Facebook to delete it.
  • At 6:43 p.m. a Donald Road caller reported a young teenager racing his dirtbike up and down the roadway and was not wearing a helmet. Police spoke to a group of youths and advised them of the consequences of riding on public ways. They stated they would comply.
  • At 7:03 p.m. a person flagged down police to report that a group of four men punched and broke glass at the Burlington Mall. Suspects identified and mall to see restitution.
  • At 8:11 p.m. police arrested Vitale Rotaru, 41, of 7 Bucknam St., Apartment A, Everett, on charges of shoplifting by concealing merchandise and attempt to commit a crime. Arrest made after Macy's loss prevention reported a male shoplifter.
  • At 8:39 p.m. police arrested Vassir Saguer, 48, of 7C Atherton Ave., Apartment 3, Nashua, NH., on a charge of shoplifting $100+ by concealing merchandise. Arrest made following shoplifting complaint by Lord & Taylor.
  • At 9 p.m. Macy's reported detaining two female shoplifters. Store to handle.
