Town Meeting Has Open Seats, Meeting to Fill Them Monday

There are five vacancies in Town Meeting.

Burlington Town Clerk Amy Warfield has sent out a notice that two precincts that are currently under-represented in Town Meeting.

Warfield said there is one vacancy in Precinct 3 and four vacancies in Precinct 7. The May Town Meeting is next Monday night at 7:30 p.m. and before it begins there will be a special meeting to try and fill the seats.

In order for a resident of one of those districts to be considered for the seat, he or she must be nominated by a current Town Meeting member. Anyone interested in contacting a member from their precinct can find the complete list with contact information by clicking this link.

"If they want to participate in Town Government this is a good way to do it," Warfield said in a previous interview with Patch concerning Town Meeting vacancies. "If they want to get one of the open positions they should call a member from their precinct to be nominated."

There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13 in the Performing Arts Center at Burlington High School. Current Town Meeting members of Precincts 3 and 7 are invited to nominate their candidates and to vote for their choice.
