"Video Vacation Week" BCAT's FREE Summer Video Production Program

Middle schools students get a crash-course in video production

Burlington Cable Access Television (BCAT) will be holding its annual summer program “Video Vacation Week”, Monday August 18th through Friday August 22nd, 2pm to 5pm.

BCAT Video Vacation Week is a FREE program for children entering the 6th grade thru those entering the 8th grade. The program is a fun, educational week for kids to learn about video production and BCAT’s facilities. The week’s events are coordinated by BCAT Production Coordinators Chris Flaherty and Veras Connolly who also oversee BCAT’s Middle School program “Video Voyagers” during the school year.

Our program welcomes all levels of experience, however requires none. Participants are taught proper use of video equipment, in the studio and on location. Over the course of one week, students will create their own productions. They will have the opportunity to work in front of the camera, as well as behind the scenes learning about a variety of video production aspects such as directing, graphics, audio, etc. The videos participants produce will be broadcast on BCAT and available on our YouTube channel.
