5 Things: Library Visitors, Skin Cancer Screening
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 29 in Charlestown.

1. Rainy: Today will be cloudy with showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day and into the evening, mainly before 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 69, Low: 61.
2. Special visitors: Lulu the Ladybug Girl, from the cherished children’s books by David Soman and Jacky Davis, will drop by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today at 11 a.m. to meet with children and pose for pictures. Also today, Clifford the Big Red Dog will visit the Central Branch in Copley Square (700 Boylston St.) at 11 a.m., part of 529 Day, which highlights the importance of saving for college.
3. Skin cancer screening: Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (1153 Centre St.) is offering a free skin cancer screening today from 5-7 p.m. The screening is open to all residents who have not seen a dermatologist in more than a year. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the Community Health and Wellness Department at 617-983-7451. Dr. Eva Balash, Dr. Christine Lian and Dr. Chrysalyne Schmults will be conducting the screenings.

4. Job search help: Neighbors helping Neighbors USA meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Boston Public Library’s Central Branch (700 Boylston St.). The free, peer-led group helps individuals in their job search.
5. History of the Cannoli: The North End Historical Society will host a talk tonight on “The History of Cannoli: Italian American v. Italian,” at 6 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center (30 N. Bennet St.). The program is free and open to all.
