5 Things: New Business Tour, Library Fun

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Jan. 23 in Charlestown.

1. Sunny and cold: Today will be mostly sunny but chilly, with wind chill values as low as -13 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. High: 20, Low: 7.

2. You and Me, Baby: The Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library is offering a story, rhyme and bounce time for children under 2 years old accompanied by an adult on Wednesdays at 10:45 a.m. The free program will also run on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 and 13.

3. New business tour: Crate Escape invites dog owners in the Charlestown area to visit their new local facility between noon and 7 p.m. today. For more information, visit their website, crate-escape.com.

4. Wear Red Day: Feb. 1 is the 10th annual National Wear Red Day, part of the national “Go Red For Women” campaign and a kick-off to American Heart Month. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing one in three deaths every year. Join the fight against heart disease by supporting the “Go Red For Women” cause.

5. Watch a film: Escape the winter chill with an afternoon movie at the Boston Public Library's central branch in Copley Square (700 Boylston St.). Today at 6 p.m., watch “Thank You For Smoking” (2005), part of the Kirstein Business Film Series. The movie will be shown in the library’s Rabb Lecture Hall.
