5 Things: Ropewalk Meeting, 'Make Way for Ducklings'
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 8 in Charlestown.

1. Rainy: Today will be cloudy with showers likely after 1 p.m. and a possible thunderstorm after 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 67, Low: 53.
2. Ropewalk meeting: The Charlestown Neighborhood Council will meet today at 7 p.m. at the new Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Community Meeting Room to hear preliminary development concepts for the Ropewalk Building. Developer Joseph Timilty is proposing a development with about 69 rental units and a small museum area. The proposed project does not include on-site parking.
3. “Make Way for Ducklings” reading: The National Braille Press will host a community reading event today at 1 p.m. to celebrate the release of the print/braille edition of the classic children’s book, “Make Way for Ducklings” today at 127 Mount Vernon St. Co-sponsored by Hill House, a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for Boston children, the event will include a co-reading by Jayne Donahue of State Street Corporation, a sighted reader, and Kate Crohan, a teacher of the visually impaired and a braille reader.

4. Nursery Rhyme story time: Join the Charlestown Branch children’s librarian for rhymes and stories, and perhaps a puppet or two, today at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome.
5. Job search help: Neighbors helping Neighbors USA meets every Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Boston Public Library’s Central Branch (700 Boylston St.). The free, peer-led group helps individuals in their job search.
