5 Things: Special State Primary, Youth Hockey Banquet
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 30 in Charlestown.

1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 67 and a low around 44, according to the National Weather Service.
2. State primary: Today is the Massachusetts Special State Primary to fill the U.S. Senate seat of John Kerry. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, including voting locations, visit the state Elections Division web site at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/. 3. Youth hockey banquet: The Charlestown Youth Hockey Association will hold their annual End-of-Year Banquet tonight at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall (545 Medford St.). Uniforms should be turned in at this event.
4. Story time: Bring the kids to the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today at 4:30 p.m. to read books illustrated by David Diaz and create self-portraits based on Diaz’ artwork.

5. Chamber "Night Out": The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce will host a monthly "night out" tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Crate Escape (200 Terminal St.). Enjoy complimentary appetizers and beverages.
