5 Things: Women's Club Social, Democrat Meeting

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 22 in Charlestown.

1. Possible T-storms: Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance for more showers and thunderstorms in the evening. High: 86, Low: 64.

2. Women’s Club social: The Charlestown Women’s Club will hold their May social tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall (545 Medford St.). Enjoy music, refreshments and a cash bar and discuss club plans for the coming year. RSVP by calling 617-242-0535 or emailing thecharlestownwomensclub@gmail.com.

3. Democratic Committee meeting: The Charlestown Democratic Ward Committee will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the Charlestown Lacrosse Center (14 Green St.). As always, the public is welcome to attend. The agenda will include discussion of events relating to upcoming elections.

4. Pahty time: The Charlestown YMCA (150 Third Ave.) will hold its second annual Pahty in the Yahd to support the Y's Annual Fund tonight beginning at 6 p.m., featuring appetizers, a cash bar and a silent auction. Tickets cost $30 the day of the event. To RSVP, visit ymcaboston.org/charlestown/pahty.

5. Apply for a historic marker: The Charlestown Preservation Society is accepting applications from Charlestown property owners interested in obtaining a bronze marker for local buildings that are more than 100 years old and meet other requirements. Applications can be found at charlestownpreservation.org and are due by Aug. 1. CPS board members are offering help with the process today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middlesex Registry of Deeds in East Cambridge; register by calling 617-241-7500 or emailing info@charlestownpreservation.org.
