Boston Libraries Hosting Author Talks in April

Boston Public Library is hosting a series of author talks at the Central Library in Copley Square and several branches throughout the city during the month of April.

Upcoming author appearances include:

Jane Green, author of 12 bestselling novels, will speak about her most recent book, "Family Pictures," on Thursday, April 11, at 6 p.m. in Rabb Lecture Hall at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston St.

• Essayist, novelist, editor, and Bennington College English professor Doug Bauer will read from his most recent collection of essays "What Happens Next?" as part of the South End Writes series Tuesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the South End Branch of the Boston Public Library, located at 685 Tremont St.

• As part of the Never Too Late Group programming for seniors, author William J. Craig will discuss his book, "A History of the Boston Braves: A Time Gone By," on Thursday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in Rabb Lecture Hall at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston Street.

• Author Maria Termini will present a slideshow and read from her book, "Driving Curiosity: On the Road to Central America," on Monday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Honan-Allston Branch of the Boston Public Library, 300 North Harvard St. in Allston.

Joe Gallo, author of "Boston Bronze & Stone Speak to Us," will present a slide show and discussion of public art in Boston on Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the South End Branch of the Boston Public Library, located at 685 Tremont St., and on Monday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Adams Street Branch, located at 690 Adams St. in Dorchester.

• In conjunction with national Money Smart Week, Bob Sullivan, author of "Gotcha Capitalism: How Hidden Fees Rip You Off Every Day and What You Can Do About It," will present a talk on consumer fraud and technology crime on Tuesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston St. Sullivan is the nation’s leading journalist covering identity fraud and appears regularly on various NBC News programs including the Today Show, NBC news and CNBC.

Justin Martin will read from his book "Genius of Place: The Life of Frederick Law Olmsted" in conjunction with the 2013 West Roxbury Reads on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at the West Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, located at 1961 Centre St. in West Roxbury. The Friends of the West Roxbury Branch Library will host a reception 30 minutes before the author talk.

Robin Hobb, a New York Times bestselling author, will discuss "Blood of Dragons," the fourth and final volume in the acclaimed Rain Wilds series, on Tuesday, April 30, at 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston St. Hobb’s books under the pseudonym Megan Lindholm include "Wizard of the Pigeons," "Windsingers" and "Cloven Hooves."

• South End resident and creative writing instructor Barbara Shapiro will read from her new novel, "The Art Forger," a fictionalized account of the Gardner Museum heist, as part of the South End Writes series on Tuesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the South End Branch of the Boston Public Library, located at 685 Tremont St.
