On Monday, 27 individuals will be racing in the 117th Boston Marathon to help support Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital as part of Spaulding’s Race for Rehab Team.
These individuals include Spaulding staff members, former patient family members, Spaulding volunteers, and Charlestown residents. In addition, for the sixth year the team is being captained by Ernst van Dyk, nine time Boston Marathon Men’s Wheelchair champion.
For the past seven years, Spaulding has successfully recruited more than 100 individuals to run the Boston Marathon in support of the hospital, and has raised over a half a million dollars to support Spaulding's Annual Fund, dedicated to providing support to the hospital's most pressing needs including: patient care, teaching, research and capital improvements.

As the Race for Rehab Marathon Team trains to complete the historic 26.2 miles, Spaulding is getting closer to crossing another finish line. In less than two weeks Spaulding will move to a brand new facility in Charlestown. This state-of-the-art facility will be a special resource for Greater Boston, New England, and beyond. It will greatly enhance clinical capacities, provide comfortable and accessible patient accommodations, promote a truly transformative clinical research enterprise, and be a source of aesthetic enjoyment for the community.
Spaulding will be hosting a Thank You Charlestown Health Fair for the Charlestown Community at the new hospital on 300 First Ave in the Navy Yard on Sunday, April 21 from 1-5 p.m. There will be information at the event on Spaulding’s fundraising programs like the Race for Rehab Team that people can join and support!
