Boston Flag Football League is Back on For the Season

On Friday nights, boys and girls between 9-16 can play for free at Charlestown High School.

Today is Thursday, May 12. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. If you're reading this before 9:30 a.m., good news: You still have time to head over to the Union Street Playground (better known as Peter Looney Park) and get some free coffee and donuts. Oh, and have a chat with the mayor while you're at it. From 9:30 to 10:30 today, Mayor Thomas Menino will be in the neighborhood for a coffee hour with residents. He wants to hear from you about public parks in the neighborhood, city services and anything else on your mind.

2. We've got a , and he's getting started with a slightly controversial topic -- where city councilors live (and don't live). Writer John Keith is arguing that Boston "proper" needs its own city councilor, but also that councilors in other districts can sometimes live a significant distance from the neighborhoods they actually cover. It's an interesting case, and you can read and weigh in on it .
