Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will convene New England mayors, police chiefs and policy staff Thursday to discuss ideas and initiatives to address gun violence and gun safety, strategies and tools focused on illegal guns, firearms education, and violence reduction strategies.
Representatives from several dozen cities and towns in New England will come together to share ideas and policies on gun violence reduction as a way of establishing an on-going regional dialogue amongst policy makers. As law enforcement agencies around the region increasingly recover second-hand firearms associated with crimes, the summit will provide a forum for collaboration between cities, large and small, to enable a comprehensive, wide-ranging approach to gun violence and gun trafficking.
