Now that winter is over, the Boston Yeti is on vacation and he is celebrating by lending a hand to the other furry creatures of the population.
The creature initially gained a following on social media back in January after he was seen strolling the streets of Boston during 2015’s epic snowstorms.

Now the person in costume, who is still unidentified, is selling Boston Yeti swag to raise money for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA).
“I can think of no better way to spin one’s popularity than for the benefit of animals in need,” the Yeti said Sunday in an email to the Associated Press.

Yeti merchandise is available on Boston Yetsy, a store created through e-commerce website Etsy. The shop, which currently carries pins and stickers, was set up last Thursday. Rhode Island-based artist Jeff Smith designed the quirky products.
“We’re profoundly grateful that the Yeti decided to use his profile to shine a light on homeless animals in our adoption centers,” said MSPCA’s Rob Halpin. “No doubt his good work will bring more and more people into shelters to adopt, and we’re excited about that. We tip our hat to the Boston Yeti!”
Every dollar earned from store purchases will go to the MSPCA. The Boston Yeti told Patch there are no plans to add more products to the inventory but the option is “being considered.”
Visit the MSPCA website for more information on the organization and related animal shelters.
