Candlelight Vigil To Honor Shooting Victim

Friends are invited to gather Monument and Medford streets Saturday night.

Friends and family of the late Steven W. Jones will honor his memory at a candlelight vigil on Saturday, May 11 at 8 p.m. at the corner of Monument and Medford streets in Charlestown.

Jones, 21, was reportedly the victim of the fatal shooting that occurred in the same area, at 92 Monument St., late Tuesday night. Boston Police have not officially released the victim's name, but a memorial set up at Monument and Medford streets identified him as Charlestown resident Steven W. Jones.

Boston Police detective are investigating the shooting.

Services for Jones will be held Tuesday, May 14 at 9 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 13 from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

A fund set up online to help Jones' family had raised more than $15,000—well over the $10,000 goal—as of Friday afternoon.
