Car Break-Ins Top Police Log

Officers responded to several reports of car break-ins around the neighborhood.

These reports were collected from the Boston Police Department and took place within Charlestown's District, A-15. The time and place of the alleged crimes are listed. Persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Tuesday, May 24 

  • Marvin Lafontant of Hyde Park was arrested around 7 p.m. on Washington Street on an outstanding warrant. Boston police were assisting a police department outside of Massachusetts.

  • Police responded to a report of vandalism at 41 Chestnut St. around midnight. 
  • Police responded to a report of vandalism at 48 Shipway Place around 6 p.m. 
  • A driver reportedly left the scene of an accident/property damage at Sullivan Square around 6 p.m.
  • A car parked outside out of 33 Carney Court was broken into, according to police. Goods valuing under $200 were stolen from the car.

Thursday, May 26

  • A car parked outside out of 370 Rutherford Ave. was broken into, according to police. Goods valuing more than $200 were stolen from the car.

Friday, May 27

  • Police responded to a verbal dispute at 66 Medford St. around 8 a.m.
  • Police responded to a report of larceny (over $200) from 74 Old Landing Way. A victim told officers he was approached by a man who grabbed his gold chain and fled in a gray Cadillac with a missing headlight and custom rims.
  • A driver reportedly left the scene of an accident/property damage at 20 Lexington St. around 11 a.m.
  • Police responded to a report of assault and battery on Rutherford Avenue around 11:30 a.m. The driver told officers that his wife, who was sitting in the passenger seat, got angry with him and proceeded to punch him in the face and bite his arms, according to the police report. Their children were in the backseat of the car. The victim said he had a restraining order against the suspect, but it had expired. 

Saturday, May 28

  • Police responded to a verbal dispute at 10 p.m. at 85 Monument St. 
  • A car parked outside of 33 Corey St. was broken into around 11 p.m., according to a police report. Goods valued under $200 were stolen. Another car parked on Lexington Street was also broken into around the same time. More than $200 worth of goods were stolen. And a third car, this one parked on Terminal Street, was broken into just after midnight. More than $200 worth of goods were reportedly taken from it.
