Community Center Hosts Open House
Plus, that news about Osama's sister's brain? MGH officials say they can't find any evidence that it's true.

Today is Wednesday, May 4. Here are five things you need to know.
1. Been curious about the Community Center? Today’s the day to satisfy that curiosity. The Boston Center for Youth and Families, the city department affiliated with the center, is at the Community Center on Medford Street. The open house runs from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be games, music, refreshments and info about programs for kids, including summer camp.
2. Marky Mark is back in his hometown this week – to shoot “Ted,” a movie where he plays (surprise!) an average Boston guy. Yesterday film crews to shoot a few scenes at Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe. Word is the crew is headed to the North Shore for a couple of days, but they’ll be back in Boston to wrap up later this month. “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is directing “Ted” (his first film). The movie focuses on a man’s adult relationship with a teddy bear from his childhood. I’m pretty sure there’s a name for that, but this is not that kind of film.

3. Have you noticed the flowers in Sullivan Square? No, the city didn’t put those there. A group of volunteers did around sundown last Saturday. And we were there to get photos. . I know it’s hard to believe, but they kind of highlight the beauty of what is, certainly, one of the least attractive places in the city.
4. In the wake of all the bin Laden news, you may have heard the story about Osama’s sister – or, more specifically, her brain. She lived in Boston, you see, and several news outlets (including ABC) reported that when she died of cancer at MGH, her brain was subpoenaed by the FBI so DNA samples could be matched against Osama’s, should he be caught. You may not have heard this part, which the Phoenix reported yesterday: Sue McGreevey, spokesman at MGH, said she has not been able to “turn up any evidence” within the hospital that bin Laden’s sister was ever treated there or that the FBI ever requested access to any human remains. Lesson? Don’t believe everything the media tells you.
