Constitution Crews Prepare for Sunset Parade

As part of this year's Harborfest celebration, sailors from the USS Constitution will lead a parade through the Navy Yard on Friday.

This year is the 30th anniversary of the Boston Harborfest and the USS Constitution is gearing up to celebrate tomorrow night with its annual Sunset Parade in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

The parade celebrates the connection between the neighborhood’s naval heritage and New England’s patriotic roots. It starts at 6:30 p.m. on Pier 1.

Sailors from the USS Constitution will perform boarding pike and gun drills to simulate how Navy officers once prepared and fought at sea during the age of sail.

The conclusion of the Sunset Parade will take place at evening colors during the firing of Constitution’s saluting battery cannon to signify sunset at approximately 8:25 p.m.
