CPS Seeking 'House Sitters' for Upcoming Charlestown Historic House Tour

The Charlestown Preservation Society is currently looking for more than a dozen house sitters to help out with the upcoming Charlestown Historic House Tour, set for next Saturday, Sept. 20.
The CPS currently has 60 sitters scheduled for the tour, but is looking to add 15 more to help with the event, CPS officials announced this week.

Those who volunteer will receive a complimentary house tour ticket and be able to tour the house at which they are sitting.
A brief orientation will be held on the day of the tour, and volunteers will sit for about two and a half hours, the CPS said.

Proceeds from the tour help fund a guidebook for new homeowners titled “Charlestown: History and Architecture,” as well as the restoration of the Training Field Civil War statue and archaeological dig and landscape upgrades at the Training Field, among others.

Meanwhile, the CPS plans to hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Mary Colbert meeting room on Devens Street, according to the Charlestown Patriot Bridge.
The CPS will review a presentation for the rehabilitation of the Chain Forge Building in the Charlestown Navy Yard, among other agenda items, according to the report.
