Crew Filming for 'Boston Blue' This Weekend

Charlestown residents may see a film crew around the neighborhood this weekend doing work for the TNT reality show “Boston Blue.”

The show, which has already been filmed, is being produced by Donnie Wahlberg. A film crew working on a network promo commercial for the show did some shots Friday morning between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Charlestown and will be doing additional filming on Saturday, Dec. 8, according to a notice sent to Charlestown Neighborhood Council member Bill Galvin.

“Some shots will not have any talent and others will have doubles for our officers,” location manager Karen Stark wrote in the notice, which was also distributed on flyers at homes in the area. “We will not be using any lights or generators at all.”

Filming will be done at eight locations, including the red Freedom Trail line on the Charlestown Bridge, the corner of Pleasant Street at High Street, Soley Street, the Mead Street stairs, the old library at 380 Blue Hill Ave., Medford Street looking toward the Tobin Bridge, Sackville Street and Allston Street.

The crew is looking to clear vehicles from the streets for some shots, as specified in the flyers distributed to residences.

At the Charlestown Neighborhood Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 4, Galvin expressed some concerns about receiving notice last minute for filming activity like this one.

The council is asking a representative from the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events to come speak at a future meeting about the notice requirements for film crews.
