Edwards Students to Benefit from $50k Donation
Through the Citizen Schools program, middle school students are partnered with professionals for 10-week 'apprenticeships.'

Citizen Schools, a national nonprofit organization that partners with middle schools to expand the learning day for low-income students, is investing $50,000 in Boston-based programs -- at students at the Edwards Middle School will benefit directly from the donation.
The funding comes from Staples and will support an initiative at the Edwards that partners students one afternoon each week at with professionals who volunteer with the school. The students receive 10-week “apprenticeships," working -by-side with experts in various fields, exploring new professions, learning new skills, and creating something for their community.
The Massachusetts Citizen Schools program launched in 1995 and currently serves over 1,100 students and engages thousands of volunteers each school year.
