First Hispanic U.S. Attorney to Speak at Bunker Hill

The honorable Carmen M. Ortiz will speak at the college's Chelsea campus on Tuesday, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Carmen M. Ortiz, will speak at on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at the College’s Chelsea Campus (175 Hawthorne Street, Bellingham Square). The talk is free and open to the public.

Nominated by President Barack Obama, as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, Ortiz is the first Hispanic and the first woman to represent Massachusetts as United States Attorney.

U.S. Attorney Ortiz’s top priorities include national security and the prevention of terrorism, prosecuting healthcare fraud, defending civil rights, and reducing violent crime and white collar crime. In 2010, she implemented the District’s first civil rights initiative, aimed at reinvigorating enforcement efforts of federal civil rights laws.
