Got an Opinion on the Bike Lane Issue? We Want to Hear It

Today is Friday, April 22. Here are five things you need to know today. 

1. Got some thoughts about bike lanes in Charlestown? Want to share them with us for a feature we'll be running next week? Come down to Main Street (in front of Zume's) at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Our reporter Kasey Hariman will be there, inviting folks to speak -- on camera -- about the issue. And now's as good a time as any to weigh in. On May 2, city officials will be back in the neighborhood to talk about bike lanes in Charlestown, including where they should go and whether they should be here at all. Kasey's been working on a new feature we started on Patch a few weeks ago that invites you, the resident of Charlestown, to share your thoughts on a popular topic. So far we've had people weigh in on and a . I know a lot of people have strong opinions on the bike lane issue. So please take a moment to come and speak to Kasey. Any questions? 2. It's Easter weekend -- and, even though you can't always tell, it's spring. To celebrate the season, the Charlestown Mothers Association is hosting a on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the fields at the Charlestown Community Center. There will be coffee, juice, donuts and lots of eggs for the kids to find. Mr. Ron and his balloon animals will be there, along with the Easter Bunny. 3. Charlestown Live was on last night. Guest host Kathy Giordano interviewed Kate McDonough, the executive director of the Kennedy Family Center. Kate was talking about the If you missed it, don't worry. It airs again on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Monday at 10:30 a.m. on Channel 9. 

4. The weather might actually be decent this weekend. If you're doing some yard work, remember the city's available to pickup your leaves on regular recycling days from April 25 to May 20. Just be sure to put your yard waste in large paper leaf bags or open barrels (ideally labeled "yard waste").
