A homeless man who authorities said allegedly stabbed two park rangers at Boston Common Tuesday was held on $1 million cash bail at his arraignment Wednesday, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Bodio Hutchinson, 34, is accused of stabbing two Boston park rangers around 4:50 p.m.on Tuesday, Oct. 14. One of the rangers suffered a stab wound to his abdomen and a slashing injury to his back, and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, while the other was rushed to New ENgland Medical Center for treatment of five stab wounds to his back and abdomen, according to the DA. Both rangers are expected to survive.

After the incident, Hutchinson allegedly fled Boston Common toward the Boston Public Garden as Boston Police officers chased him. There, authorities allege that he tossed an item into the nearby lagoon before turning on officers and shouting, “Shoot me! Shoot me!” Police, however, ordered Hutchinson to the ground and arrested him, and assisting officers discovered the item he had tossed was a folding knife, according to the DA.

Hutchinson was also held without bail Wednesday on warrants sought by probation officers after he allegedly violated probationary terms related to previous convictions. He is currently appealing convictions for “punching, kicking and biting” corrections officers at the Nashua Street Jail on Jan. 4, 2010. He was subsequently sentenced on one of the convictions to two and a half years in the house of correction, and on another to a consecutive term of two and a half years, with one year to serve and the balance suspended for a probationary term of five years.

Moreover, Hutchinson was at the jail following an arrest in Dorchester two days prior, when he allegedly assaulted and bit another man. That victim, Conley said, refused to testify against Hutchinson and he was subsequently acquitted of those charges.

As recently as Feb. 22, 2013, Hutchinson was convicted of punching a woman and biting a man inside a Roxbury restaurant; he was sentenced to a term of two-and-a-half years with 18 months to serve in prison, and the balance suspended for a probationary term of three years.

Hutchinson returns to court on Thursday, Nov. 6.
