I-93 N Closed Tonight; Free Ferry Rides Available

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on June 18 in Charlestown.

1. Rain: Today will be mostly cloudy with potential showers throughout the day and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Showers and the possibility of T-storms will continue into the evening. High: 72, Low: 56.

2. I-93 northbound closed tonight: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will continue its cleaning and maintenance of the I-93 tunnel through Boston tonight, shutting down the entire northbound side through the city from exit 16 (Southampton Street) through the Haymarket on-ramp. The closure will begin at 11 p.m. tonight and run through 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. Details here: http://patch.com/A-4N39.

3. Urban ag meeting: If you missed the June 3 meeting downtown on Boston's new urban agriculture rules, you can attend the next community meeting today from 6-8 p.m. in Jamaica Plain. The meeting will be held at English High School auditorium (144 McBride St.). 4. Free ferry ride: Think there's no such thing as a free ride? Think again! Today you can travel from Long Wharf to visit Georges or Spectacle Islands in the Boston Harbor at no cost. To celebrate the beginning of summer, the Boston Harbor Island Alliance with support from The Lawrence and Lillian Solomon Fund is offering free access to the park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. 5. Family Fitness Day: The Boston Harbor Alliance is also hosting a free Family Fitness Day today from 2-3 p.m. at the Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Bring the family to enjoy dancing and hula hooping during a free workshop with the Boston Hoop Troop.
