Irish Cultural Centre to Host Texas Hold Em Fundraiser
Plus, see how the other half lives during the Beacon Hill Hidden Gardens Tour.

Today is Wednesday, May 18. Here are five things you need to know today. (A sort of special events around Boston edition.)
1. Time is running out to get a ticket for the Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill tour this Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m – rain or shine. This is a pretty famous affair and tickets are limited; the price is $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the tour, availability permitting. Even if you don't see the gardens, check out many of the deals Beacon Hill businesses are running on tour day. (Visit Beacon Hill Patch for more details.)
2. Oh, hey. The president's in town today. Why? For a campaign fundraiser, of course. In May. 2011. If you want to go, tickets are available for a $500 contribution. A donation of $1,000 earns you the title of “Friend” and a seat in the premium section, while $10,000 contributors will be invited to a “photoline” reception.

3. It was a freezing, soaking wet mess, but the Copley Square farmers market opened yesterday. If you're like me (a nerd for amazing produce, humanely and locally-raised meat and artisan cheese) you should go on Friday, when the market runs again from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. I picked up some lamb chops, fresh mozzarella and big beautiful greens. Jealous?
4. This one isn't quite in Boston, but it might be of interest to some of our readers: The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton is hosting a Casino Night and Texas Hold Em Tournament fundraiser on Saturday at 7 p.m. Want more details? Visit www.irishculture.org. Tickets are $50 for Casino Night Only, $150 for the Texas Hold Em Tournament.

5. Today's weather! Showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Possibly heavy rain. High near 55.
