It's Going to be a Busy September
September is packed with local events in Charlestown -- artists, speakers and 9/11 memorials. Here's a preview of what's on the horizon.

Today is Wednesday, Aug. 31. Here are five things you need to know today.
There first two weeks of September are loaded with events in Charlestown. Here's a special edition of 5 Things to put a few of them on your radar.
1. 9/11 Memorial Service. The Friends of City Square Park, along with the Charlestown Mothers Association and Gardens for Charlestown, are hosting a memorial service in City Square Park on Sept. 11 at noon. Local clergy and firefighters will be there too. There will be music, a flag raising and a color guard presentation.
2. Dedication Ceremony for Howie Long. The Charlestown Boys and Girls will be recognizing NFL Hall-of-Famer Howie Long with a special plaque that will go on permanent display at the club. There will be a dedication ceremony on Sept. 7. For more details, contact Greg Jackson at 617-242-1775.
3. Another film in Charlestown? with producers of the film R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. The producers would like to permission to film in Charlestown on Sept. 11-14 around Pleasant Street Court. If you've got anything to say about this, this meeting is the place to weigh in.
4. Here comes trouble. . He'll be speaking at Bunker Hill Community College on Sept. 15. You can go, for free, you just have to request a seat in advance. You can do that here.
5. Art in the Park! Art in the Park is coming back to City Square on Sept. 10. That's more than 60 artists and designers, showing and selling their goods.
