June's Adopt-a-Cat Month at the ARL

Today is Thursday, June 9. Here are five things you need to know today.
1. Still thinking about getting involved with the parade this weekend? Good news. Organizers are still looking for volunteers and participants – particularly if you’re involved in a community group. 2. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a lot of luck using two mobile apps when I’m waiting for the bus or the train (MBTA Tracker and Ride the T, to be exact). But if mobile apps have let you down, you might want to check out what Google’s done. Google Maps will now give you live updates on where your bus is. Seems too good to be true? Check out Google’s blog post from yesterday, where they made they announcement.

3. Thinking about getting a cat? How about two? Now’s a good time. June is Adopt-a-cat-month at the . To honor our feline friends, the League is discounting the adoption fee for all adult cats over 1 year of age to $50.
4. Charlestown Pride Week continues tonight with the from 6 to 9 at the Eden St. Playground. If it rains (and it might) the event will move over to the Knights. Either way, you can count on music and refreshments. And if you're staying in because of the weather, you can get a preview on your TV by watching . Host Kathy Giordano will be chatting with parade organizers.

5. About that weather. August has come a little early today. Temps should climb up to 96, but there’s a chance all that heat will result in some thunderstorms and heavy rain by late afternoon.
