Man Dramatically Rescued From Water in Charlestown
First responders scrambled into action after a man fell 30-feet from a pier at Constellation Wharf early Saturday morning.

First responders risked their life early Saturday morning as they dramatically rescued a man who plunged 30-feet into frigid water in Charlestown.
Officers responded to Constellation Wharf around 2:33 a.m. after receiving a radio call for a person in the water. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim in struggling to stay afloat.
According to witnesses at the scene, the man was urinating off the pier when he became unsteady on his feet and fell into the water below. Boston’s Harbor Unit, firefighters and EMS workers were called in to assist with the rescue operation.

In order to save the man, officers were forced to balance on unstable and rotted support beams high above, police said. They were then able to lower a rope to the victim and drag him over 100 yards to safety.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for possible hypothermia.

“The actions of the officers prevented what was a poor decision by the victim from turning into a tragic one,” the Boston Police Department said.
