Manhole Explosion In Chelsea Shuts Down City Hall

Police say Eversource is on its way to investigate the scene.

CHELSEA, MA — Police are responding to the scene outside of Chelsea City Hall after a manhole explosion Tuesday.

Police say there was no smoke or fire, but the City Hall has been shut down out of an abundance of caution.

Chelsea firefighters have requested Eversource to the scene while they investigate basements in the area.
