Sacra, a Wayland native, was reportedly not treating Ebola patients, and it is currently unknown how he contracted the virus, NECN reported.
Sacra, who works with the missionary group SIMS Clinic Organization, is the third American doctor to become infected with Ebola. Nancy Writebol, also a worker with SIM, previously contracted the virus, as did Kent Brantly, who spoke about his experience this week with NBC’s Matt Lauer, according to USA Today.
