PHOTOS: Mayor's Coffee at John Harvard Mall

The annual event was sponsored by Mayor Menino and the Boston Parks Department and provided free refreshments, resources and flowers to Charlestown residents.

Mayor Tom Menino wasn't able to make the Mayor's Neighborhood Coffee Hour on Friday, May 10 at Charlestown's John Harvard Mall park, but residents were still able to enjoy a beautiful morning outdoors, along with free refreshments and coffee.

At the event sponsored by the Mayor's Office and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Boston Parks and Rec Commissioner Toni Pollak and the mayor's Chief of Public Property Mike Galvin welcomed the large group of Charlestown residents and discussed some of the resources available to residents interested in learning more about the city's park system.

Whole Foods provided fresh fruit and Dunkin' Donuts provided coffee and doughnuts for local residents, while Parks and Recreation staff handed out free potted flowers, grown in the city's greenhouses.
