Police: Charlestown Man Charged in Relation to Ryan Morrissey Death

Boston Police Commissioner announced Wednesday three arrests in connection with the shooting death of Ryan Morrissey last year.

Based on evidence developed during an investigation, Boston Police Tuesday night arrested Julio Baez, 24, of Charlestown on charges of murder for Morrissey’s homicide and armed assault with intent to murder for shooting another man, age 19, who was wounded during the shooting but survived his injuries. Baez was held without bail at his arraignment Wednesday in Charlestown Municipal Court.
According to a recent press release, homicide detectives recently arrested 21-year-old Danilo Soto, of Dorchester, and a third suspect, a 17-year-old from Charlestown, who was already in custody on an unrelated matter. Both are expected to be arraigned on charges identical to Baez’ Thursday in Charlestown court.

At about 9:40 p.m. on November 5, Boston Police responded to Main Street in Charlestown for a report of a person shot. On arrival, they found the two victims, who were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. Ryan Morrissey, one of those victims, succumbed to his injuries on November 9.
Baez will return to court on April 15.
