Pride Parade Saturday, 'Touch a Truck' Day Sunday

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on June 7 in Charlestown.

1. Rain: The National Weather Service is calling for rain all day today, with patchy fog before 11 a.m. and thunderstorms possible in the evening, mainly after 2 a.m. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall. Weekend forecast: Showers are likely on Saturday, with a high around 71 and a low around 58. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers before 11 a.m. Sunday’s high will be around 77, low around 59.

2. Touch a Truck Day: From a police cruiser to a fire engine, a dump truck to a duck tour bus, kids can touch, climb on and learn about more than 25 city vehicles at this year’s Touch A Truck Day, scheduled Sunday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bunker Hill Community College (250 Rutherford Ave.) parking lot No. 1. Sponsored by the Charlestown Mothers Association, this annual event is part of a week of activities leading up to Bunker Hill Day and is free and open to everyone around Boston.

3. Pride parade: Boston Pride Week festivities will conclude this weekend, including the Boston Pride Parade on Saturday at noon, from Copley Square to City Hall Plaza, and the Pride Festival from 12-6 p.m. at City Hall Plaza. 4. Night at the museum: MFA First Fridays are held on the first Friday of every month from 6-9:30 p.m. With the purchase of admission to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave. ($25 adult, $23 seniors), you can explore the exhibits, enjoy music, cash bars featuring signature cocktails and delicious tapas available for purchase. This event is open to visitors ages 21 and up; purchase tickets in advance at mfa.org or at the door.

5. Open market: The Greenway Open Market is offered on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the Wharf District Parks on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Shop a variety of handmade and locally produced fine art, jewelry crafts, ceramics, apparel and accessories as well as handmade imports that are fair trade or eco-friendly.
