A tractor trailer lost a tire while traveling on 93 just outside Sullivan Square, causing backups on the highway and likely into Sullivan Square as rush hour approached on Monday.

State Police are on-scene of a serious incident on Route 93 northbound, just outside Sullivan Square, where a tractor-trailer lost a tire, and, in turn struck a Ford Mustang, killing the driver. Serious traffic delays are expected, both north and southbound.
State police have released an alert on the resulting backups. As of 4 p.m., the two leftmost northbound lanes were closed, as well as the left lane southbound.
Preliminary investigation shows the tractor-trailer was on the southbound side when it lost the tire, which flew into the northbound side of the highway and hit the Mustang. The operator of the Mustang died.
