Spaulding to Offer Support for Children with Autism Through Upcoming Workshop

"Autism Updates: A Workshop for Families" will focus on creative learning and long-term planning.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown will hold a special workshop later this month to help address preschool age to adult needs for individuals with autism within the Boston area, Spaulding announced this week.

The “Autism Updates: A Workshop for Families” will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Spaulding, 300 First Ave. in Charlestown.

At the workshop, attendees will take part in sessions on using iPad apps for creative learning and talk about long-term legal and financial planning unique to individuals who care for others with autism.

Experts from Spaulding’s Charlestown and Lexington outpatient centers who specialize in autism will be on-hand at the event to work with parents and caregivers on how to apply techniques to their individual situations. Staff from Care.com will also be on-hand to provide child care, while legal experts from Margolis & Bloom LLP and Shepherd Financial Planners will host sessions.
