"Speaker Series" at the Charlestown Branch Library
The Bunker Hill Monument Association, along w/the Friends of the Charlestown Branch Library, presents a free 3-part "Speaker Series".

The “Speaker Series”. A series of three talks, hosted by the Bunker Hill Monument Association and the Friends of the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library. Talks will be held at 6:00 pm on the following Thursdays: April 3, April 10 and May 15, and are free and open to all. Held at the Charlestown Branch Library, 179 Main Street, Charlestown. "Speaker Series":
On April 3: “Judah Touro: Patriarch and Prophet”:
Speaker: Keith Stokes, a lecturer on Judah Touro. Mr. Stokes, the black descendant of the union between Judah Touro and his black house slave, has a well-developed presentation on the subject of Touro. This event would tell the tale of how a Jew from Newport and New Orleans joined with a Protestant Brahmin to assure that the Bunker Hill Monument would be built.
On April 1Oth: “Lafayette in America”:
Alan Hoffman, President of the MA Lafayette Society, will speak on the Marquis’s activities in 1777 to 1781 during the Revolutionary War and his grand tour in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Revolution and the laying of the cornerstone at the Bunker Hill Monument in 1825.
On May 15th, "Lady Editor":
Melanie Kirkpatrick, the author of “Lady Editor, a biography of Sarah Josepha Hale and the Making of the Modern American Woman” will enlighten us on Mrs. Hale’s patriotic and feminist work, especially the famous bake sale that raised funds to the completion of the Bunker Hill Monument.
