Speedy Chen's Vandalized, Owner Stabbed

The owner of Speedy Chen's was stabbed on Friday night after confronting a local teeanger who broke the window of his Main Street restaurant, according to police reports.

Billy Chen, owner of Speedy Chen's, was treated for injuries — a stab wound on his right arm — and was back to work Monday after the incident.

Around 10:30 p.m., a teenager smashed the front window at the restaurant, according to a police report. Chen walked outside and confronted the teen, who was sitting on Main Street, the police report states. Chen told police he believed the teen was drunk, and that the teen admitted to breaking his window.

The teen's mother approached the scene, according to the police report, apologized and promised to pay Chen for repairs. Chen agreed and went back into his restaurant. But moments later, the teen threw another rock at his window. Chen confronted the suspect again. This time the suspect screamed, "[expletive] you!" and stabbed Chen twice with a six-inch blade, according to the police report.

When police arrived, Chen told them he was familiar with the teen. Chen, along with other business owners along that stretch of Main Street, have repeatedly complained to police about loitering teenagers who appear to be drinking, harass people and vandalize their properties.

Officers went to the teen's home in Mishuwam, according to the police report, and spoke to his mother. A warrant has been issued for the suspect's arrest.

The suspect's name has not been released by police.
