Time for a Spring Trunk Show

Catherine Applegate is hosting ETCETERA's spring and summer line this week.

Today is Wednesday, April 20. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. So now that spring is here… so is this season’s . Local fashion guru Catherine Applegate is available this week for personal shopping appointments. You can take a look at the spring and summer collection online first at www.etcetera.com. Email her at boutique4aweek@earthlink.net or call 617-686-6964 to schedule a time to meet with her.

2. First: Did you know the Skating Club of Boston has an adult theater on ice team called Imagica? That was news to me. Second – how about the fact that they won gold at the 2nd Nation’s Cup competition and 4th in the National Theater on Ice Competition, which was earlier this month in Hyannis? And here’s the really salient point: Two local womenCarolyn Evert and Lauren Westgate – are both members of this team. Congrats to them both!

3. Good news, fellow T riders and smartphone addicts: There is a new app in the pipeline that will allow us to file our complaints about MBTA service instantly on our phones, while we’re waiting for 10 to 15 minutes on an Orange Line platform. The MBTA has just put a call out to developers, inviting them to build an app that would allow commuters to submit photos and comments about whatever problems they observe in their travels. The deadline for app proposals is May 20. So hopefully by this summer, this program will be rolling. There are more details on Universal Hub.

4. If you missed yesterday’s story about , take a minute to check it out. The 2010 Census data shows Charlestown’s population is on the rise and although the numbers don’t spell it out, it’s safe to say that increase includes couples with kids. This business story focuses on how local retailers, restaurateurs and realtors are catering, increasingly, to young families.

5. More April showers in the forecast. Rain likely before 3 p.m. Possibly a thunderstorm. High near 50.
