USS Constitution to Host Formal Reopening of Federal Park Sites

Representatives of businesses and historic places will discuss the impact of shutdown.

On the 216th anniversary of its launching in 1797, USS Constitution will host the formal reopening of all federally-funded national historical park sites in the Boston area featuring speakers representing the National Park Service and historical sites along Boston’s Trails to Freedom today, Monday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. aboard ‘Old Ironsides’.

Representatives from both federal and privately-funded sites including the National Park Service, USS Constitution, USS Constitution Museum, Old North Church, and area businesses will speak how their respective operations have been affected by the government shutdown and what steps are now being taken to return the sites to normal functionality.

National Park Service employees care for America's 401 national parks and work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities.
